LEOSA/HR-218 – Retired Public Law Enforcement National Carry Course and Qualification
Under HR-218 retired law enforcement may qualify in their home state or through their former department to carry a concealed firearm nationally as long as they are retired in good standing from their department with at least 15 years service. Under Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) officers must attend class and qualify on a state certified PPC course of fire using the Q target. The “tactical revolver/semi auto” course we use requires 50 rounds fired from the 5, 15 and 25 yard lines with a possible high score of 250 points. Once the retiree completes the course they are issued, by the instructor, their carry card which is good for one year (12 months) from the date of qualification.
