Range Use & Rules
If
you intend to shoot rifles, there are a separate set of rules that you must
read and sign. You will also be issued a Rifle Card. Please bring and present
your rifle card to the RSO each time you bring your rifles.
Targets
for center-fire rifle cartridges must be placed no closer than the 15 yard
line. This is to insure that rounds fired will strike the center of the
backstop. Remember shooters of differing heights may not be able to shoot the
same target without adjusting its position respectively.
There
is no restriction to how fast you may shoot but all rounds fired must strike
the target and backstop. Hitting the floor, overhead baffles, walls or target
carriers can result in immediate removal and/or ban from the use of rifles, or
the range.
All
firearms are to be cased and un-cased your respective firing booths. Handling
of firearms outside of the booth, unloaded or loaded is strictly prohibited.
Upon entering the range, bring your cases/bags into the booth with you, unpack
your firearms there placing them on the table pointing downrange. You may store
your cases/bags on the mantle behind you. However, once you are finished with
your firearms, remember to bring the cases/bags back into the booth order to
pack them back up again.
Shooting
from the hip or any other form of unsighted shooting is not permissible. Only
exception is if you are training with an instructor or shooting a
qualification, where the course of fire requires the shooter to shoot from the
“bent-elbow” position.
On
the floor of each booth there are two painted red lines. The red line to the
front of the booth is the firing line. No one is permitted to cross this line
at anytime. If you have something that you must retrieve beyond that line,
inform the RSO. The red line to the rear of the booth is the hazard is the
“gun-free” zone. The handling of firearms beyond that line is prohibited.
